ICC CWC 2019: Rohit-Rahul scored a century, India to beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets newstracker

India defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in their last league match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.  In this match at Headingley ground in Leeds, Sri Lanka made 264 runs at 7 for 50 in the 50 overs they batted first before winning the toss.  In reply, India achieved the target by losing 3 wickets in 43.3 overs.  Captain Virat Kohli scored 34 and Hardik Pandya scored 7 not out. The founding pair of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul laid the foundation for India's victory.  Both of them added 189 runs for the first wicket in 30.1 overs.  Rohit Sharma scored 103 and KL Rahul scored 111.  Malinga, Ragitha, and Udana took 1-1 for Sri Lanka. This is the 5th century in Rohit Sharma's World Cup.

 Earlier, winning the toss in the match before going to bat first, the Sri Lankan team started very poorly.  At one stage Sri Lanka had lost their top four wickets at just 53 runs.  Experienced Angelo Mathews, with the help of Lahiru Thirimanne, shared 124 runs for the fifth wicket and played an important role in reaching the challenging score of 264 runs.  Mathews scored his third century of ODI career  He scored 113 runs in 128 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes.  Thirimane also contributed 53 runs.  Jaspreet Bumrah has taken 3 wickets for India.  Bhuvneshwar, Jadeja, Kuldeep, and Pandya got 1-1 success. Rohit Sharma's 'Man of the Match' was selected for his century.
